Identifying a problem
During feedback sessions with students, one of the topics that kept cropping up was the difficulty they were having navigating Moodle. During face-to-face teaching this would rarely be considered newsworthy but during the pandemic it has become particularly poignant. This seemly basic problem of signposting has and continues to cause students increased stress levels as well as being identified as a reason for missing online classroom sessions because they were simply unaware of them.
Responding to feedback
To help address this issue, the CSM Digital Learning team worked with staff and students from MA Culture Criticism and Curation with the aim of making their Moodle course:
- intuitive to navigate
- more accessible
- quicker and easier for staff to maintain
