Storytelling workshop: Using Teams and Miro to emulate studio teaching

Graphic Communication Design: Using Teams and Miro to emulate a collaborative design studio workshop

Teams and Miro

This workshop is based on face to face studio activity that has since been adapted to online delivery. Miro provided the collaborative working ‘studio’ space while Teams enabled tutors and students to verbally communicate. Students worked on the same Miro document but were via Teams channels split into one of four groups. The activity lasted 3 hours and 30 students took part.

In their groups, student were asked to create a storyboard based on certain criteria. They then moved to another groups storyboard (clockwise)and described the images in text form. All the drawn storyboards were then covered up. Groups once again moved clockwise and translated a different groups text into 6 images. Finally the original images were uncovered and the original groups compared their original images with the text and subsequent storyboard images.
