CSM Climate Advocates Programme

The Climate Advocates Programme forms part of the UAL’s Climate Action Plan, supporting students’ engagements with the UAL Principles for Climate, Social and Racial Justice and contextualising them within their disciplines and practices. 

Recognising that climate change is inseparable from wider questions of social and racial justice, Climate Advocates are employed to work in partnership with CSM staff through research, curriculum co-design, consultations, and creative projects. Together, they explore how creative education can respond to these interconnected challenges. Through collaboration with students and staff, the programme helps create the conditions for new approaches to economic, cultural, and societal systems that prioritise both human and planetary health. 

The 2025-2026 Climate Advocates cohort focused on 3 projects:

Project 1: Collaborative Toolkit 

The toolkit, Teamwork Makes the Dream Work, But What If Nobody Slept? gathers best practice in collaborative pedagogy. Students sit at the centre, as partners shaping the work itself. Care, equity, authorship, shared accountability, built into the practice of learning together.

Project 2: CSM Rooftop Garden project 

The CSM Rooftop Garden project is bringing the CSM permaculture garden to life through immersive wayfinding and visual storytelling. The project aims to make the space an accessible and collaborative environment for both students and staff to engage in sustainable and ecological practices.
